The Dupla Lighting System comprises lighting equipment that will very effectively reproduce the light found in the natural biotopes of fish and plants - both fresh and sea water.  The two important functions of light are therefore fulfilled:

a) To display the underwater world in a natural way.

b) To supply the necessary energy for plant growth.

 

Criteria for aquarium lighting:

 

  1. The most important function of light is to provide the aquarium plants with sufficient energy for optimum metabolism.  Amongst other things, the assimilation of nutrients incl. CO2 and the supply of oxygen to the water.
  2. The light-day under water, is shorter in tropical waters than the light-day above water. This is a consequence of the angle of refraction in the water. Direct sunlight does not penetrate the water until the sun is at a certain height above the horizon. Therefore the light-day under water amounts to approximately 8 to 10 hours. The consequence for the aquarium - strong light, but a shorter period of illumination. Even 14 hours does not bring about 100 % oxygen saturation !
  3. Many plants which are used in the aquarium as foreground plants, e.g. echinodorus tenellus, lilaeopsis nova-zelandiae etc., grow on banks and receive the most light there. If the lighting however is weak, the plants will obtain too little light in the aquarium, assimilate only inadequately, and rot.

Dupla Multi Control

The Dupla Multi Control Aquarium computer with six-way socket for control of all key parameters in freshwater and seawater aquariums using a single device. Enables pH-controlled CO2 fertilisation, while the the water temperature is regulated by a fitted temperature sensor. The socket for ground temperature management is controlled by way of the variable hysteresis to the water temperature and, due to an inverting function, allows a cooling device to be connected instead of the ground heating. Fitted with three time-controlled sockets for devices such as day/night lights, air and hydraulic pumps, or filters, which can be switched on and off up to 8 times per day.
